Chocolate Blueberry Zoats

I know a lot of athletes struggle for low carb breakfast that aren't omelette's. Well here's a great one that you wouldn't even know is low carb! It's packed with fibre and protein to fill you up until lunch. Plus the antioxidant rich blueberries will help those sore muscles from the day before. Unconventional to have courgette at breakfast, I know, but you won't even taste it. Give it a go!


  • 1/2 courgette

  • handful of oats

  • 150 ml almond milk

  • 2 scoops of chocolate protein powder

  • 3 tbsp of greek yoghurt

  • handful of blueberries

  • sprinkle of nuts/seeds


With a corse grater, grate 1/2 a courgette. Add this to a pan and mix with around the same amount of oats. Top this up with almond milk (or any other) so that it's just covered. Heat on a low heat and stir until it's the consistency that you like, around 4 minutes.

Take it off the heat and add your protein. If it's a little thick then add a little more milk. Mix well. Most protein powders are sweet so you won't need any additional sweetener like honey. This will keep the carbs down.

Top your bowl off as shown in the picture or swap it out with any other ingredients that you have in your fridge. It's your breakfast, customise as you wish!
